Key Pieces…..Spring 2015.

Hello my lovelies, how are you all doing? Hope you did have a wonderful and loving valentine´s day.
I must confess though, i am not into the celebration of this day…well, i guess it´s just because for me everyday is a celebration of Love with my dear ones. 🙂 Nevertheless, i hope you all had a wonderful time with your sweethearts, celebrating this special day for “Lovers”.

I am still out here fighting the cold weather 🙁 and impatiently counting the days, hours, minutes and seconds until Spring is finally upon us. Well, there is hope and we will surely get there.  In just 26 days, 18 hours, 25 minutes and 18 seconds is Spring!!!!!! Yeah!!!!!!!! I cannot wait to feel the first warm rays of the sun on my face once again.  🙂

To hasten this feeling, i have been surfing the blogosphere checking out what awaits us fashion-wise this coming Spring 2015. It is that time once again to slowly update my wardrobe and say goodbye to the thick winter coats. I want to be so ready when Spring is finally here !!! 🙂

According to the fashion experts, Spring 2015 is going back into time. Of course, we know by now that there are no new trends anymore. Just repackaged, glossier versions of ones we’ve seen many, many times before.  And this spring is really no exception. This season, fashion has taken a trip down memory lane and back to the 1970s. We are going to see lots of fringe details and versatile denim to suede, slightly roomy and flared pants, as well as floppy hats.

I will be sharing with you today some of my favourite trends and key pieces for Spring 2015. I think this is all you really need for a stylish Spring season 🙂 ……….

The Gingham Print

The gingham trend is also getting a reboot for 2015. Shop for a piece that dresses up the traditionally casual pattern. Whether blown up in size or sexed up in sheers, it is primed for a street-style-worthy comeback. The current favorites are made of the most feminine silk chiffon. You can choose the size of gingham that suits you most, that appeals to your own personal tastes. That’s the beauty of it this season!

Go for the little skirts or the billowing dresses, the sweet jumpsuits or the fitted shirts, the crop tops with midriff bared, the chi twin sets or even the coats that cover it all up. Gingham’s in with all its bustle and bumble and you are the boss. Wear them with lace or on its own, just make sure you got some gingham in your wardrobe!

Denim flared Jeans

Yes, we know, denim’s always in fashion. But, for SS15, we’re talking flares. The bell-bottom is back. Do not be afraid – the high waist and flared hems are flattering on the figure. Don’t toss your skinnies just yet (especially if they’re high-waist), but keep in mind that the hottest cut of the season has a more ’70s vibe.

The 2015 take on flared jeans is a tight fit with a slight flare that starts at the knee. Whether you pick a high-waist style or a pair that’s slung a bit lower, we are loving slightly roomier cuts with a bit more movement for a luxe, flattering look. You can rock them with a plain white T-shirt, faded denim shirt or go ultra-’70s chic with platform sandals, an exotic clutch and a statement ring.

flared denim

Flared denim worn by fashion blogger “STYLE IS MY THING”

To be honest i am not a fan of the 70´s style flared trousers, so i was a little skeptical if i can rock this style. But hey!! when i saw one of the fashionistas( Style is my Thing) rocking this look, i was convinced it could work after all 🙂 .
I guess, it all depends on how you style it and she did an amazing job!! Check her out here if you have not seen her blog before. She´s one of the best afro fashion bloggers out there.

If you are not into the flared trousers then a denim dress will be just great too. A denim dress works with sky-high heels for a night out or with moto boots for a Saturday morning.

Bohemian Chic

My all time favourite trend 🙂 . Enchanting bohemian chic motifs come to make this spring ultimately romantic and carefree, bringing soft and flowing silhouettes, beautiful prints and patterns, lace and small details that charm instantly. When i think bohemian, i think kaftans, maxi dresses, romantic blouses, patchwork, fringes, suede and silk fabrics…with maxi dresses being my all time favourite!!!

Another reason to look forward to the warmer seasons to come !  Who would not want to trade the big winter coat for a boho chic style ?

so boho-chic!!! : Zara burgundy maxi dress & Naomi Campbell for “Peter Dundas SS 2015”

I recently came across the Zara Spring Summer look book 2015 and it has a bohemian signature which i am loving!!!. I immediately fell in love with one of the maxi dresses featured. The burgundy dress captures the spirit of the 70’s vibe so in for 2015.  I just think the bell sleeves are divine and I have been stalking the Zara site to snap it up as soon as it arrives. 🙂

A Colourful Suede Skirt

H&M Suede Mini Skirt

This year’s suede trend is taking full advantage of the luxe power of the material. A stylish nod to the 70’s. For the brave, there are suede trenches, flares and shift dresses, knee-high boots, or duffle bag. For those looking for more breathable attire, there’s the suede skirt.

Every colour looks richer in suede, so forgo traditional black and brown in favour of a bright colour. Pair it with a simple T-shirt or blouse.
A colourful suede skirt is effortlessly cool. It’s a great way to take a classic trend and make it a little more fun and whimsical.

Gladiator Sandals

For this spring/summer, make sure you have a pair of gladiator sandals on hand. Though recent years’ styles have trended toward a more minimalist version, more bold straps and ties are coming back with fervor for this year’s warm-weather months.

A Chic Carryall

A bag that’s both on trend and practical can be hard to find, but designers are coming to the rescue with chic, oversize bag options that don’t stick out as too casual. Grab a luxe tote-size carryall in leather or velvety suede. This style is large enough to hold your life within it but chic enough to take with you everywhere.

I have been on the look out for the perfect carryall handbag for a while and i did come across a couple of options from various designers. I must say though, i am not someone who is into designer labels/brands just for the hype and because they are popular. I look out for unique and great style coupled with excellent quality too. Just because it is a popular designer brand doesn´t make it the best quality.  😉

After some intense research, my top 2 in this category of Chic Carryall goes to ……“Michael Kors” and to a german brand called “ROUVEN”.

Michael Kors

A great one i found is an everyday leather Multifunction Travel Tote from the series Jet Set Travel. This is what the brand has to say about this bag…..

“The bag to take you anywhere and everywhere, season after season. We dreamt up this stylish, streamlined tote as the ultimate carryall—perfect for papers, a spare pair of flats, even beach essentials. It’s understated and organized for the office, but completely chic for evenings out. On your arm or over the shoulder, it’s destined to become your go-to tote.”

I was at the Michael Kors shop to check out this bag and I completely agree with the above description. You can get the oversize large bag or go for the medium size tote if you don´t have that many stuff to carry around with you.
I specially love the fact it comes in a wide range of vibrant colours too, which is the perferct pop of colour for spring /summer 2015. Click here to check out these bags.

Rouven bags

The ROUVEN leather bags feature a classic elegant look and presents Tote Bags and shoulder bags made from the finest leather! The minimalist look is designed for the fashion-conscious woman who loves the purist style.
I did finally settle for the ROUVEN bag because it represents my style…..and maybe because “Made in Germany” is a quality you just can´t beat.  🙂

I loved the bag so much, i just had to get it in 2 different colours.  A neutral camel brown tone which can be paired up with practically any outfit and a vibrant burnt-orange tone for that extra pop of colour which i so love!! :-).

For those of you in Germany who are interested you can get this bag for a great price now. It is presently on sales you get to save 72% from the original price of EUR 699,00. Sorry but the orange colour is out of stock and not on sales. Click here to check out the camel colour and some other colours too.

my rouven

My ROUVEN bags …..I couldn´t resist getting both colours 🙂

Hope you all got some inspiration for your spring wardrobe update.
What do you think of the 70´s making a modern comeback this Spring/Summer 2015? Which trend and key pieces will you be rocking this Spring?

Stay cool as always until we meet again.
